Your Dr. Phillips Realtor

The area of Dr. Phillips is named after Dr. Phillip Phillips, a Central Florida citrus magnate.  He was responsible for several key innovations in the processing and packaging of orange juice. By the early 1920s, he owned thousands of acres of groves, stretching across nine Central Florida counties and extending from Conroy Road on the north to the south end of the Sand Lake Chain, encompassing all of what is now Bay Hill, Orange Tree, Sand Lake Hills, Clubhouse Estates and Turkey Lake Park.

The paragraph above is how Wikipedia describes Dr. Phillips.  For those of us that have lived there, it’s an area that has grown up to be on of THE spots to live!  To be clear, it’s not a city, but rather a suburb.  The reason it bears mentioning, is that you have likely heard about it in the news or various websites as being a destination area.  The schools are amazing and you could not ask for more variety in dining options.  Restaurant row has over 50 restaurants and eateries!  My personal favorite is called “The Whiskey” and has some of the best burgers in town along with live entertainment. Boutique shopping galore is just around the corner and there is easy access to all major roadways.  Medical facilities are nearby as well as numerous specialty centers for specific medical needs.  You may have heard of the Bay Hill neighborhood.  The famous golf tournament takes place there and is also considered to be part of Dr. Phillips. Take a quick jaunt down the road and you will end up at Disney World and all that it has to offer!  In a nut shell, you have a location  that is close to everything you could ever need, while still maintaining a small suburb feel.  It’s an area where people walk a lot, kids play outside and there is a good quality of life.

Now, let’s talk about real estate.  The variety of homes available goes from 1 bedroom condos in the low $100K to multi-million dollar homes on one of the several lakes.  Waterfront homes on the Butler chain of Lakes never cease to impress and the golf frontage opportunities are numerous.  Now, here is what you will not likely find.  New Construction.  In order to get a newer home, the solution might be to tear down an older one.  Bay Hill is a great example.  The homes from the 70’s have seen their glory days and are now ready to be either rehabbed or rebuilt. The good news is that there are similar homes that will usually support the new costs associated with starting over. So whether you like a simplified living situation where everything is done for you or if you are seeking a grand estate close to everything, Dr. Phillips might just be the place for you!
